Interesting Facts You Never Knew About MADE IN ABYSS SEASON 2

The fans are making their expectations higher by reporting to the developers about whether they want to see more episodes or not! In response to all of it, Netflix Japan sent out a tweet clarifying that they’ll make it come true. Made in Abyss Season 1 debuted its first episode earlier this year on July 7th, 2017 while the final episode hit the screen on September 29th. As reported, the story happens in a fantasy world where there’s a yawning chasm, called the Abyss. This place has a system of layers and at the bottom of it is a mysterious and hostile environment.

The next installment of Made in Abyss is going to have a chance of being aired on Japanese TVs, and that will be the anime series made in abyss season 2. And this second part of the show has been given an official release date from Kinema Citrus. 

When will MADE IN ABYSS SEASON 2 be released?

As we have been told by the studios, Made in Abyss season 2 is going to be telecasted in October 2017! However, there’s no news yet whether it will be streamed on Netflix or not. Yes! There were rumors claiming otherwise; however, your answer is YES! As reported earlier, Netflix Japan made an announcement confirming their work with the developers for this show’s second installment. And if they’re working together then it means that the second installments will be streamed on Netflix for sure!

Made in Abyss Season 2’s Plot Speculations

If you’re familiar with this show, then you’re aware of its exciting story where the abyss opens up to all types of mysteries. For example; there are terrifying creatures who live in the holes, deep underground. Then how do these cute-looking main characters make their way? They use tools like grappling hooks and much more. And since they explore deep down into the ground, it makes us believe that there could be some really tough challenges in the future for them! It is said that the big hole in which these young adventurers go has five layers; each one is tougher than the previous one. That means we can expect great things from this show.

What was the reason for cutting Season 2?

The original plan for Made in Abyss Season 2 was 6 episodes long, following Riko and Reg’s journey into the Abyss’ 6th Layer “Shrine Island.” However, because of various circumstances (most notably having to do with Kadokawa Shoten’s merger with Media Factory), the anime staff found themselves facing a scheduling crunch; they had to make all 6 episodes within one year. To avoid rushing the story, they decided to shift gears and instead made an OVA episode focusing on Riko and Reg’s daily lives at Orth, followed by an hour-long special which retells the events of Episode 8 (the last episode of Season 1). The remaining 4 planned episodes are currently on hold.

Who is playing Nanachi?

You may be surprised to know that the voice actor for the mysterious character, Nanachi (who also narrates each episode) is Yurika Kubo. This should come as no surprise considering her other roles in anime such as Yuri Katsuki from YURI!!! On ICE and Shinoa Hiiragi from SEKKOKU BASARA: SAMURAI BLOODSHOW.

Will Season 2 continue the story?

Made in Abyss Season 2 will pick up roughly where Season 1 ended and go into more depth about Reg’s past and his purpose for exploring the Abyss with Riko. Anime production company Kinema Citrus explicitly stated at the Made in Abyss Season 2 premiere at Anime Expo 2018 that they have not forgotten about the planned made in abyss movie.

Will there be a Made in Abyss movie?

Unfortunately, no official announcement has been made yet about a Made in Abyss movie being produced, but it is an idea that has been floated around since Season 1’s completion. The main issue right now is getting more funds to pay for production costs and potentially licensing issues with other companies who may own rights to certain aspects of the story. In February 2019, it was announced by Anime Limited (U.K) via their social media accounts that they were going to release a Made in Abyss OVA episode “Land of Dwarves” onto home video sometime during the summer season and that the OVA episode was currently in production.

Will any more episodes be made?

 After reading information from Japanator and Made in Abyss’s Japanese Wikipedia page, we can safely say there will be no more anime episodes for Season 2 or Season 3. Production Company Kinema Citrus has already confirmed they are working on a Made in Abyss movie, so it is guaranteed to come out at some point but an official release date has not been announced yet. As of February 19th, 2019, Made in Abyss’s Japanese Wikipedia page states the series consists of a total of 26 episodes – 12 main episodes and 13 “recap” type episodes (similar to recap shows like SAO: Alicization ).
